In 2014 Dubbo Jazz is proud to present a diverse and exciting line-up of Jazz from trad to mainstream, swing and blues… the beat goes on…
This year’s event will be a Festival where both local musicians and past Dubbo Jazz committee members come out and play to this weekend’s audience. Local bands include Feetwarmers, Mudflappers and Dusty Jazz.
This year there will be some 100 musicians involved over the weekend at two major venues. In 2014 Dubbo Jazz brings together a group of trad musicians and the next generation (direct from Merimbula Jazz Festival) Canberra and Sydney. Special interest groups include Greg Poppleton & Bakelite Broadcasters and Jeff Duff Trio (a favourite at Thredbo Jazz Festival and first time at Dubbo).
Swing dance and the Big Band night comes back at the Golf Club Auditorium. Jazz at Lazy River and so much more!
In 2013 Dubbo Jazz was proud to present a diverse and exciting line-up of Jazz from trad to mainstream, swing to gypsy and blues.
That year’s event was the largest festival to date, with over 200 musicians involved in nearly 50 concerts. In 2013 we brought to you a unique experience, the opening concert event – the Graeme Bell Legacy Concert featuring artists who performed with Graeme over his long illustrious career and mirroring the Dubbo Australian Jazz Convention of 1970.
Before you even got to town you could have booked a seat on the very first Dubbo Jazz Train departing Sydney on Friday 9 August. in 2013 we introduced a chance for the audience to join in with both Ukulele workshops with Chuck Morgan from the Janet Seidel Trio plus Swing Dance workshops with the Canberra Swing Katz. The swing dance workshop will conclude in a Big Band night, a spectacular evening featuring the 20 strong RAN Admiral’s Own Big Band plus local support.
The main Festival venue continued to be the Dubbo RSL Club Resort, with its 6 venues and extensive facilities available to you; plus we are spreading the jazz across the town at a variety of other venues through our Jazz Around Town program.
In 2013 we continued to extend the Festival with many of the premiere local venues including Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Western Plains Cultural Centre, Outlook Cafe, Lazy River and Red Earth Estates, Dubbo Rugby Club, No 95 Red Earth Restaurant and Piano Bar, Club Dubbo Bowling Club and Blues at the Castlereagh Hotel.
