Dubbo Jazz 25 Fund

Support live jazz in Dubbo

trombone

To celebrate our 25th Anniversary, Dubbo Jazz is launching a special Fund, the DUBBO JAZZ 25 FUND, and inviting members, friends, and sponsors to contribute. Your contribution to this Fund will help us pay for the planned program of activity for the 25th Anniversary (target $1,000), and also fund two prizes for jazz performances at the Dubbo Eisteddfod ($100 each or more), and sponsor a half or full scholarship at Macquarie Conservatorium to encourage a student to develop skills in jazz performance ($300 – $600).

We are seeking individual contributions of $25 or more, and sponsor contributions of $100 or more to make this dream happen.

Dubbo Jazz Club Inc was formed in late 1990 by a small group of enthusiasts, driven by Dr. Stephen Jewell, Geoff De La Lande and Warwick Blowes. In 2013, one of the founding members Geoff De la Lande, an avid trombonist, passed away. If sufficient funds are raised, a scholarship will be established and named the Geoff De la Lande Scholarship in his honour, to support the tuition of a brass or other player with a willingness to play jazz music in Dubbo, evidenced through existing membership of a jazz group, jazz ensemble or big band, and/or a developing interest and potential for jazz, plus ability and commitment to his/her instrument.

The scholarship would be offered and administered through the Macquarie Conservatorium Scholarship program. Dubbo Jazz would seek to support a half or full scholarship each year.

Please note that while sponsor contributions can usually be treated as deductible business expenses, individual donations are not yet tax deductible. Dubbo Jazz is currently investigating how to enable our organisation to attain tax deductible status.
